NORMAN DELANO TATE
Norman D. Tate, 83, of Quincy died at 6:35 p.m. Thursday (May 12, 2016) in Blessing Hospital.
Born April 19, 1933 in Quincy, Norman was the son of Lewis Albert and Bertha Wheeler Tate Sr. He married Patricia Pennington on June 24, 1962 in Hannibal, Missouri. She survives.
Norman served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, from 1953 to 1955. He was a 1951 graduate of Quincy High School and attended Gem City Business College. He enjoyed restoring antique automobiles and collecting coins and especially loved spending time with his family.
Norman was employed at the Electric Wheel Division of Firestone and Can-Am from 1966 until 1991. He later went to work for the Adams County Sheriff's Department from 1992 until retiring in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Carol Brockmiller (Jerry) of Quincy; a son, Russell "Russ" Tate (Kay); four grandchildren, Jack and Lilly Lewis both of Quincy and Reed and Mason Tate both of Liberty; a sister-in-law, Janet Tate of Quincy; a former son-in-law, Steven Lewis of Quincy; and three loving nieces.
Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David Tate and Lewis Tate Jr.
Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in Greenmount Cemetery with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating. Military honors will be held by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
There is no visitation but friends are invited to attend the graveside service.
Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
