OPAL JANE DANIEL
Opal Jane Daniel, 94, of Quincy died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday (October 29, 2013) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born April 21, 1919 in Shelby County, Missouri she was the daughter of Samuel and Pearl Long Morris. She married George Daniel on February 15, 1947 in Excelsior Springs, MO. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1986.
Jane was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Quincy and a former member of the Harrisonville Baptist Church in Missouri.She was a graduate of Monroe City High School. She enjoyed reading, working in her garden, raising flowers and especially loved to crochet. Jane was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary called the "Pink Ladies" at the Harrisonville Missouri Hospital.
She was first employed as a elementary education teacher in the country schools for a few years. She then became the manager at the Grace Company which made baby clothes in Beldon, MO. She worked there for several years until her retirement.
Survivors include a son, Ken Daniel (Tami) of Aurora, OR and a daughter, Kay Flowerree (Paul) of Quincy; two grandchildren, Kimi Walsh (Tom) of Shewood, OR and Kandy Karter of Aurora, OR; three great grandchildren, A.J. D'Antonio, George Daniel and Wayne Karter all of OR and a niece, Deborah Kerr (Thomas) of Excelsior Springs, MO.
Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George and a brother, Ralph Morris.
Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the Emden Cemetery in Emden, MO with Pastor Tim Dougherty officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday morning form 10:30 until 11:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home, Lighthouse Baptist Church or Emden Cemetery Association.
