Ray E. McAllister

June 16, 1931 ~ October 21, 2012 (age 81)

   Mr. Ray Edward McAllister, 81, of Quincy, died at 2:32  p.m. Sunday (October 21, 2012) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born June 16, 1931 in Jacksonville, Illinois, Ray was the son of  Ray W. and Edna Galloway McAllister.  He married Norma O'Hara on March 5, 1955 in Quincy. She survives.

   Ray was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. He enjoyed country music, traveling on sight-seeing bus trips with his wife, and spending time with his family and friends.  Mr. McAllister served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

   Ray was employed at Moorman Manufacturing for 36 1/2 years, retiring in 1990.

   Survivors include his wife, Norma; a daughter, Patti Hibbard (Steve) of Quincy; a son, Terry McAllister of Quincy; four grandsons, Drew Hibbard (Amy), Shane Hibbard (Ashley), Dustin Hibbard and Jeremy Hibbard all of Quincy; a great grandson, Dylan Hibbard and a great grandchild due in February; a brother, Robert "Bob" McAllister (Ginny) of Quincy; two sisters, June Stegeman of Quincy and Betty Carpenter (Steve Cole) of Greensboro, N.C.; three brothers in law, Don O'Hara (Wanda), Jack O'Hara (Shirley) and Dale O'Hara all of Quincy; a sister in law, Patsy O'Hara of Quincy; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

   Mr. McAllister was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother in law; two brothers in law, Ivan "Bud" O'Hara and Ralph Cleveland; and a sister in law, Reda Cleveland.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy White.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ.
