Rick Smith, 55, of Quincy died at 1:56 a.m. Saturday (January 17, 2015) in his home.
Rick was born August 24, 1959 in Quincy. He married Chris Houston on December 29, 1980 in Quincy. She survives.
Rick was a 1978 graduate of Quincy High School. He was an avid Washington Redskins Football Fan and enjoyed listening to old classic rock music and going to concerts with his wife. Rick also liked to watch the television shows American Pickers and NCIS. He always looked forward to Saturday's to hang out with his friends at TNT. His passion in life was riding his 2013 Harley Davidson Road Glide with his wife Chris, taking trips to Daytona, FL, Sturgis, S.D., and visiting and riding the Dragon's Tail in Tennessee. They also liked to visit the American Pickers Shop in LeClaire, Iowa. Most of all Rick adored his family and loved spending time with his boys and grandchildren.
Rick was employed at ADM, formerly Quincy Soybean for nearly 36 years.
Survivors include his wife Chris; his mother Geraldine Smith; two sons Danny Smith (Amy) their son Daniel Smith Jr. and Darren Smith and his son Ayden Smith all of Quincy. Also surviving is one brother Rusty Smith (Carla) and their children Alyssa, Erin and Syeira of Plainville, IL; two sisters Melissa Pardieck (Shawn) and their children Conner and Logan of Mapleton, IL and Donetta Jansen (Jerry) and their children Ashley and Austin of Plainville, IL.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Ruby Smith, two uncles Jimmy and Jerry Smith and several cousins.
Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon 1:00 p.m. in Greenmount Cemetery with Pastor Keith Garner officiating. Following the Graveside service a celebration of life will be held at TNT Harley at 3:00 p.m. at 5101 Oak St. Quincy.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
