ROBERT E. WERNETH
Robert E. "Bob" Werneth, 74, of Quincy, passed away at 12:13 a.m. Friday (February 23, 2018) in Blessing Hospital.
Born April 8, 1943 in Quincy, Bob was the son of Fred "Fritz" and Rita Welsh Werneth. He met the love of his life, Mary Lee Tomlin in 1959 while Bob was working at the Maid Rite and she came in to the restaurant to eat. They started dating and were married four years later, on June 15, 1963 in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Bob and Mary Lee were married for 53 years until she preceded him in death on January 6, 2017.
Bob attended St. Rose grade school and was a 1961 graduate of Notre Dame/Christian Brothers High School. He was employed as a cabinet maker at Hucks Fixtures and later was an over the road truck driver for 37 years until his retirement in 2004.
Bob was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Teamsters Local 688 of St. Louis and a former member of Cedar Crest Country Club where he was an avid golfer. Bob enjoyed his many trips he made to Florida and having a good time with friends and family.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Werneth and Todd Werneth both of Quincy; two grandchildren, Brandon Werneth and Brittney Werneth both of Quincy; a great grandson, Owen Meyers; a sister in law, Sandy Tomlin; and 9 of the best first cousins a person could have in the Knuffman and Welsh families.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Fritz Werneth; and his mother, Rita Reckers and her husband, Ralph; and a brother in law, John Tomlin.
Cremation arrangements are in the care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Services will be private.
