ROBERTA R. HAMM
Roberta R. Hamm, 89, of Payson died at 7:00 p.m. Monday (March 10, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.
Born March 26, 1924 in Chapin, IL, Roberta was the daughter of Norris and Freda Regan Ray. She married Percy "P.L." Hamm on February 24, 1943 in Ft. Sill, OK. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1982.
Roberta was a member of the Payson Christian Church. She enjoyed needle point, crocheting, sewing, flower gardening, car rides and going to appointments with her good friend Juanita Maple.
Roberta was a sales clerk for Grants Department Store in Quincy for several years until her retirement. After her retirement she became a caretaker and babysitter for her family.
Survivors include five grandchildren; Ginny Tipton (Scot) of Monroe City, MO, Kelly Damon (Tommy) of Quincy, Scott Spears (Kristin) of Jacksonville, IL, Steve Spears (Denise) of Fowler, IL and Stacey Spears of Quincy; eleven great grandchildren; Nicole Fox, Chrissy Jensen (Tyler), Morgan Twiehaus (Dustin), Emalie Damon, Thomas Damon II, Abagale Damon, Chevie Damon, Zachery Spears, Sophia Spears, Hailee Hobbs, Logan Hobbs and five great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hamm was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Patricia "Patty" Spears, one son James Hamm, two brothers William Ray and Lamoine Ray and one sister Lucille Duncan.
Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Payson New Cemetery with Pastor Timothy White officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon from 1:00 until 1:45 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy.
