Rose A Scheiter

April 26, 1940 ~ August 2, 2018 (age 78)


   Rose Ann Scheiter, 78, of Quincy, passed away at 7:58 am Thursday (August 2, 2018) in Good Samaritan Home. 

   Born April 26, 1940 in Griggsville, Illinois, Rose was the daughter of Harry Francis and Mayetta Clara Crane Collins. She married Raymond A. Scheiter on December 17, 1960 in Trinity United Christian Church. He survives. 

    Rose was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.  She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, Gem City Beauty Academy and John Wood Community College.  Rose was a member of the Women's Republican Club and the home extension.  She enjoyed painting, reading, traveling, singing, bowling, swimming and liked to play golf.

   Rose loved to travel with her husband, Ray.  Her best memory was their trip to New York with the National Organization of Victims right after 9/11.  She was always helping others and this trip was a special memory for her and Ray.   She especially loved to watch her grandchildren play sports.
    Rose was first employed at Gardner-Denver Company for 10 years and later for John Wood Community College as a Procurement Specialist and as a EMT in Adams County.

   Survivors include her husband Raymond "Ray" Scheiter of Quincy; a son Robert A. Scheiter (Cindy) of Camp Point, IL; two daughters Angie Bridges (Mark) of Davenport, IA and Renee Higgins (Curtis) of Quincy; grandchildren Molly Bridges, Alec Bridges, Megan (Scheiter) Ethan Linnemeyer, Rylan Scheiter, Grant Higgins and Gavin Higgins.  Also surviving is a brother Charles Collins (Ruby) of Reno, NV and a sister in-law Linda Miller (Larry) of Quincy.

   Rose was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Steve Collins and Larry Collins.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon 1:00 p.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating.  Burial will be  in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Good Samaritan Home.
