Russell H. Humke

April 29, 1922 ~ February 26, 2015 (age 92)

   Russell H. Humke, 92, of  Sunset Home, formerly of 3009 Bluff Ridge Court, Quincy, died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday (February 26, 2015) in Sunset Home.
   Born April 29, 1922 in Adams County, Illinois, Russell was the son of William and Susan Eber Humke.  He married Nancy Darlene Austin on August 25, 1945 in Camp Point, Illinois. She survives.

   Russell was a graduate of Maplewood High School in Camp Point, IL and a member of the Lutheran Church of Lost Prairie.  A champion horseshoe pitcher, Russell was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Fan and University of Illinois  "Fighting Illni" Basketball Fan.

   Mr. Humke farmed for many years in Adams County. He later was a co owner of Austin and Humke Auto Salvage on East Broadway and retired as the caretaker of Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point.

   Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two sons, Steve Humke (Patricia) of Surprise, AZ and Randy Humke (Terri) of Warrensburg, MO; twelve grandchildren and many loving great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Humke of Auburn, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Humke was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan Lyons; and a grandson, Richard Humke, four sisters Grace Simpson, Mildred Bangert, Norma Brink, Iris Brown and one brother Kenneth Humke.

   Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary Schluckebier.

   Visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or Sunset Home.
