Ruth Witt, 103, of Quincy, died at 2:16 a.m. Monday (July 31, 2017) in the Good Samaritan Home.
Born November 21, 1913 in Mendon, Illinois, Ruth was the daughter of Harry and Lillie Steiner Quigg. She married Dwight Witt on May 5, 1933 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1988.
Ruth was a 1931 graduate of Mendon High School. She loved helping others by volunteering at Blessing Hospital for many years. She loved flowers and enjoyed tending to her garden.
Survivors include three nieces, Jerene Woodard of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Barbara Bordner of Mt. Morris, IL and Bonnie Nelson of Canton, IL; one great nephew, Sean Woodard (Karen) of St. Louis, MO; one great niece, Kim Woodard of Mt. Laurel, NJ; and a dear friend, Ann Schafer.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwight; a sister, Harriet Brickman; a nephew, Donald Quigg; a sister-in-law, Laura Quigg; and two brothers, Charles Quigg and William Quigg.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:30 in the Wee Kirk Chapel at Good Samaritan Home with Chaplain James Riley officiating. Burial will be in the Loraine Cemetery, Loraine, Illinois.
Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 11:00 until the time of service at Wee Kirk Chapel at Good Samaritan Home.
