Ruth Eloise Heidbreder

December 18, 1918 ~ June 17, 2016 (age 97)

   Eloise Heidbreder, 97, of Decatur, IL formerly of Quincy died at 6:20 p.m. Friday (June 17, 2016) in Decatur.

   Born December 18, 1918 near Mendon, Eloise was the daughter of Earl and Grace Hawe McClelland.  She married Marvin Heidbreder on June 28, 1941 in Palmyra, MO.  He preceded her in death on August 2, 1974.

   Eloise was a longtime member of Luther Memorial Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Wicks.  She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother.  Eloise enjoyed dancing, going to the boat, having a good time with friends and family and especially loved spending time with her granddaughter Erica and her great granddaughter Ada.

   Eloise was employed as a waitress in various Quincy restaurants and the Quincy Airport Restaurant. She later worked at the Blessing Hospital Cafeteria for several years until her retirement in 1997.

   Survivors include her son Mark Heidbreder (Carol) of Decatur, IL; one granddaughter Erica Harris (Jason) of Quincy and two great grandchildren Ada Harris and Zachary Harris.  Also surviving is a brother Bill McClelland (Marge) of Sheboygan, WI; three sisters June Harmon of Quincy, Betty Little of St. Louis and Kathryn Mankin of Allegan, MI and a brother-in-law Jack Ventsias of Oswego, IL and several loving nieces and nephews.

   Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters Blanche Ventsias and Dorothy Holzschuh; three brothers in-law Harry Little, Bud Mankin and Rocky Holzschuh and a very special friend William "Bill" Paul.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning 10:30 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Metz officiating.  Burial will be Mendon Cemetery.

  Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
