SHARON D. ZIMMERMAN
Sharon Dyanne Zimmerman, 72, of Quincy, suddenly yet peacefully passed away at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday (December 19, 2018) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
Born January 21, 1946 in Quincy, Sharon was the daughter of Hurley D. and Bette L. Fusselman Smith. Shortly after graduating from Quincy High School, she married David A. Zimmerman on August 20, 1964, while he was serving in the U. S. Air Force.
Sharon owned and operated Le Heartstrings Country Crafts in Quincy. She was a passionate volunteer, parishioner and a member of the Quincy Preserves and Quincy Historical Society. She is best remembered as an artist that enjoyed travel, tennis, painting, home tours, gardening and antiquing.
Survivors include her husband, David; a daughter, Amy Willing (Brian) of New Port Richey, FL; two grandsons, Sean Gallagher of St. Louis, MO and David Gallagher (Nicole) of Oswego, IL; and two great grandchildren, Layla Gallagher and Oliver Gallagher.
Mrs. Zimmerman was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Sharon's life will be held Friday morning (December 28, 2018) at 9:30 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home with Rev. Arnaud Devillers officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday morning (December 28, 2018) from 8:30 until the time of services at the All Faiths Chapel. A Rosary service will be held at 9:00 Friday morning for those who wish to participate.
Memorials may be made to the IVH Permanent Shelter Fund for Sunset Cemetery.
