SHIRLEY A. WHITE
Shirley A. White, 82, formerly of Quincy, died at 12:03 p.m. Thursday (May 23, 2017) in Kilgore, Texas.
Born August 24, 1934 in Quincy, Shirley was the daughter of Walter Everett and Myrtle Laaker Jenkins. She married Francis Eldon White on January 31, 1955 in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1982.
Shirley loved to visit with her family, and friends. She was an avid horse and cat lover. In her younger years she enjoyed horseback riding, traveling and showing in western pleasure reining competitions.
Shirley was employed for over 20 years as a switchboard operator for Blessing Hospital until her retirement.
Survivors include a son, Steve White of Marshall, TX; two grandchildren, Todd White and Brooke White; a step daughter, Carolyn Ford (Jim) of Frankford, MO; three step sons, Rick White (Mary) of Sarasota, FL, Russell White (Cookie) of Fort Worth, TX and Paul White of Ozark, MO; and many loving step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Francis Eldon White.
Funeral services will be held Thurs day morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
