Mr. Steven Wayne Rueter, 43, of Marion, Illinois, formerly of Quincy, died at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday (February 5, 2013) in his home.
Born November 8, 1969 in Quincy, Steve was the son of Earl "Skip" and Barb Hussong Rueter. He married Angie Hazelwood on October 31, 2000 in Metropolis, Illinois. She survives.
Steve was a 1987 graduate of Quincy High School. He enjoyed fixing and restoring bicycles and took great pride in his creative art work. An accomplished musician, Steve loved writing songs, playing his guitar and performing with the various bands he played with.
Steve had been employed at Wildlife Materials Inc. in Murphys boro, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife, Angie; his parents, Skip and Barb Rueter of Quincy; two daughters, Payne Rueter of Clairmont, CA and Grace Rueter of Marion, IL; a brother, Greg Rueter (Sherry Arvik) of Bloomington, IL; a sister, Melissa Rueter (Mike McClelland) of Quincy; a nephew, Nate Veihl of Bloomington, IL; his mother in law, Bev Hazelwood of Marion, IL; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Rueter; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Hussong; paternal grandparents, Earl and Marguerite Rueter; and an uncle, Mike Hussong.
Graveside services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in Greenmount Cemetery by Pastor Steve Disseler.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Rueter children's educational fund or Juvenile Diabetes Association.
