Mr. Ted M. Tappe, 60, of Quincy, died at 7:19 p.m. Sunday (April 13, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.
Born December 30, 1953 in Quincy, Ted was the son of Melvin E. and Wanda L. Wiseman Tappe. He married Raina Marten on April 1, 1997 in Reno, Nevada. She survives.
Ted had a passion for music, playing lead guitar and singing in bands since he was 11 years old. He was well known throughout the area with many bands over the years, his most recent being "The Horn Dogs". Ted was also active with the Mid Mississippi Muddy Waters Blues Society, operating the sound and lights during the Blues in the Park events. Ted's summertime activities were mowing his yard and grilling by the pool. He was devoted to his family and he loved following his children sporting events.
A 1972 graduate of Quincy High School, Ted followed in the family business, Tappe's Sporting Goods. In 1983 he opened his own business, Ted's Shirt Shack, which he operated with his brother, Marty.
Survivors include his wife, Raina; four children, Austin Tappe and Alyson Tappe of the home and Nick Tappe (Suzanne) and Luke Tappe both of Quincy; a grandson, Ayden Tappe of Quincy; a sister, Terri Conner (Mark) of Austin, TX; two brothers, Tim Tappe (Diane) and Marty Tappe both of Quincy; his father in law and mother in law, John and Donna Marten of Quincy; two sisters in law, Kathy Tappe and Vickey Haxel (Michael) both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tappe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tony Tappe; and a nephew, Corey Haxel.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Solanus Church by the Rev. Tom Shaughnessy. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.
