THOMAS J. "JIM" BOHAN SR.
Thomas James "Jim" Bohan Sr.,88, of Quincy, passed away at 8:58 pm Thursday (August 30, 2018) in St. Vincent's Home.
Born June 18, 1930 in Waverly, Iowa, Thomas was the son of Ray and Helen Barnes Bohan. He married Nancy Kamps on August 22, 1959 in Brodhead, Wisconsin. She survives.
Jim was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Bodley Masonic Lodge No. 1, Ansar Temple of Springfield, Quincy Shrine Club, the Shrine Belgian Hitch, Knights of Columbus, Rocky Point Club and the Teamsters Local No. 688. Jim enjoyed reading and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fan.
Family was most important to Jim. With his brother, he enjoyed breeding and showing Belgian Draft Horses and won numerous awards at shows. Jim was devoted to his family, spending 59 years of marriage with the love of his life. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren seldom missing any event they participated in.
Jim was a livestock buyer for Armour Star and was a sales representative for Met Life while living in Iowa. In 1971, the family moved to Quincy and he began his career as a driver for Prairie Farms Dairy, retiring after 26 years with the company.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; six children, David Bohan (Lisa) of Mendon, Mary Logsdon (John) of Quincy, Patricia "Pat" Coates of Ballwin, MO, Catherine Clark of Hannibal, MO, Virginia Frese (Greg Janssen) of Quincy and Thomas Bohan Jr. of Alpharetta, GA; Nineteen grandchildren, Calicia Kampf (Alex), Castyn Bohan, Clayton Bohan (Lacy), Dalton Bohan (Lisa), Lanessa Bohan, Lexanna Bohan, Libby Bohan, Jessica Hufford (Fiance' Jim Hutson), Justina Dial (Brian), Janine Chapel, Jordan Chapel, Joseph Chapel, Nolan Coates, Jared Coates, William Schaffer (Jenna), Casie Ross (Andrew), Austin Betzold, Grace Frese and Gavin Frese; Nine great grandchildren, Brylee George, Tabitha Bohan, Brack Bohan, Danli Bohan, Adelyn Dial, Emery Dial, Sawyer Schaffer, Grant Schaffer and Jerzie Wolfe; a sister in law, Christal Bohan of Janesville, IA; a brother in law, Jerry Kamps (Caroline) of Brodhead, WI; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel Thomas Bohan; his son in law, Jim Coates and his brother, Clair Bohan.
Prayer services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 in St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Aaron Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 and Wednesday morning from 9:00 until the time of prayer services at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Blessing Heart Center.
