THOMAS TRIPP SR.

   Thomas Tripp Sr., 88, of St. Vincent's Home died at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday (January 15, 2014) in the home.

   Born March 17, 1925 in Mendon, Illinois, he was the son of Chester and Nell Smith Tripp. He married Margaret Bradfield on June 22, 1946 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on August 7, 1995.

   Tom enjoyed refinishing furniture, gardening and was active with the Boys Scouts. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII.

   Mr. Tripp was a machinist at the Electric Wheel Division of Firestone for several years until his retirement in 1982. He also owned and operated the Tripp Antique Shop with his wife until their retirement in 1992.

   Survivors include a son, Thomas Tripp Jr.(Janet) of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Debra Tripp of Quincy; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ruble (Dwayne) of Festus, MO, Jessica Shepherd of St. Louis, MO, Rebecca McCluskey of Quincy and Michael McCluskey (Mandy) of Portsmith, VA; two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Ian Ruble; a son-in-law, Gerald Shepherd (Carol) of Hillsboro, MO. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.

   Tom was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Dean Tripp; two daughters, Patricia Shepherd and Barbara McCluskey; a grandson, Benjamin McCluskey; six brothers and a sister.

   Graveside services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:15 in Greenmount Cemetery with Clif Weisinger officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail.

   Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

   Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in lieu of flowers.

   The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of St. Vincent's Home and Blessing Hospital Hospice for their loving care and support.
