Viola F. Mayfield

   Mrs.Viola F. Mayfield , 92, of 2716 Cherry, Quincy, died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday (April 25, 2012) in her home.

   Born September 15, 1919 in Adams County, Illinois, Viola was the daughter of Lyman and Rosa Oliver Rife. She  married Harold Mayfield on April 20, 1937 in Palmyra, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on October 26, 1999. She then married Harold Coleman in Spring Valley Church near Kellerville, Illinois. He survives.

   A member of Bethel Assembly of God Church where she was active with the Women's  Ministries, Viola was also
a wonderful quilter and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and bird watching. Viola cherished the time she spent with her family, especially with all her grandchildren.

   Viola was employed at the Soldiers and Sailors Home and then owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home. After closing the beauty shop, Viola became a caretaker from her home.

   Survivors include one son, Donald Lee Mayfield (Carol) of Quincy; one daughter, Betty Jean Means of Jacksonville, IL;  five grandchildren, Shelly Hennessy (Dennis) of Coal City, IL, Rebecca Pennell of Panama City, FL, Joshua Mayfield and finance' Amanda Pipkin of Quincy, Jacob Mayfield  (Teriann) of Syracuse, UT and Heidi McCarthy and finance' Thomas Lopez of Manhattan, KS; twelve great grandchildren, Amanda Tomhave of Jacksonville, IL, John Raymond Hull Jr. of Fishers, IN, Ryan Pennell (Alice) of Springfield, IL, Cheyenne Gain of Ashland, IL, Nathaniel Mayfield, Jonathan Mayfield and Aubrey Mayfield all of Quincy, Braelyn Mayfield and Sienna Mayfield both of Syracuse, UT, Chasity McCarthy, Devlon McCarthy and Taylor McCarthy all of Manhattan, KS; two great great grandchildren, Wil Tomhave and Madie Tomhave both of Jacksonville, IL.; and many loving nieces, nephews and several stepchildren.

   Mrs. Mayfield was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Bessie Voss, Della Gross and Roselee Crawford; and nine brothers, Louie, Clarence, Floyd, Vernon, Lonnie, Fred, Lyman, Walter and an infant brother, Raymond.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Neal Moore. Burial will be in Greenmout Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 until the time of the services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the  Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
