VITALIA "VIOLET" MILKINT
Vitalia "Violet" Adeline Dudonis Milkint, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2016, in the company of her devoted daughter, Nancy Milkint Weede, in Quincy, Illinois.
Born in Lithuania, Violet, as she was called since immigrating to the United States, was the daughter of Alexander and Veronica Dudonis, and the beloved wife of Clarence R. Milkint since their wedding on August 22, 1947. She was the proud mother of her daughter, Nancy Weede, and son, Bruce Milkint (Joan), and her grandchildren Sandra Weede, Jennifer Weede (Dave Levine), Kristen Weede Cummings (Scott) and Kimberly Milkint and her step granddaughter, Michelle. Her five great-grandchildren survive her, including Thomas Keppner, Kam Wasilauskas and Broderick Cummings, as well as two who bear her namesake: Adeline Levine and Vitalia Cummings. She joins family that passed before her, including her husband, grandson Michael Milkint, sisters Martha Burce and Irene McGhie, brother-in-law Richard Milkint and sister-in-law Lorraine Milkint.
Violet was a small, strong, pragmatic woman who built a home and life with what she had and lived up to her name: she was full of life. She was a devoted wife, a dependable friend and a talented seamstress and chef who shared of her time and talents generously. She loved her dogs, flowers and the Dallas Cowboys. When she and her husband built their home together, and she fell of the roof and hurt her back, she got back up, tied a rope around her waist anchored to a tree, and climbed back up to complete the roof. That's pretty much how she lived her whole life. We wish her a bed of pink roses to now rest upon.
Nancy Weede would like to thank the nurses and staff at Saint Vincent's nursing home in Quincy for their kindness, competency and compassion.
