Virginia Bright, 94, of Quincy, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday (April 23, 2017) in her home.
Born April 16, 1923 in Quincy, Virginia was the daughter of Earl and Alberta Crawford Davis. She married Delbert Bright on July 5, 1975 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 14, 1988.
Virginia was a very active member of First Baptist Church where she served as an usher, operated the elevator every Sunday morning and was a part of the Sunshine Ministry. She loved visiting with with her family and friends and enjoyed needlepoint.
Mrs. Bright was employed at Carson, Pierie, Scott Company and later as an inspector at Davis Cleaver until her retirement in 1984.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Angela Davis and Andre Davis both of Chicago, IL; two great grandsons, Collier Davis and Quentin Davis; a brother, Phillip Ball of Springfield, IL; many loving nieces and nephews including her niece, Helen Allison of Quincy; four step children, David Bright, Diane Bright, Victoria Bright and Debra Bright; and three step grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert; a son, Thomas Davis; four brothers, Lewis Ball, Edward Ball, Dewit Ball and Richard Ball; and five sisters, Thelma Boyd, Mildred Perkins, Ina Bassett, Betty Garr and Madge McGruder.
Cremation has been accorded to Virginia. Memorial graveside services will be held Saturday (May 20, 2017) at 12:00 Noon in Quincy Memorial Park with the Rev. Orville Jones officiating.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside services.
Arrangements are in the care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
