VIRGINIA LOUISE EPKER
Virginia Louise Epker, 89, of Quincy died at 1:18 pm Tuesday (September 25, 2012) in Blessing Hospital.
Born March 19, 1923 in Coatsburg, IL, Virginia was the daughter of James R. and Edna L. Pepmiller Long. She married Donald L. Epker on September 23, 1939 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Virginia was an accomplished acrylic painter and enjoyed reading, cooking, studying nature, wildlife and just being outdoors. She liked spending time with her family and friends and especially loved to have her morning cup of coffee with her daughter Patty.
Virginia and her husband owned and operated a roofing company in Quincy for several years. After her retirement she worked part time at Hamann Florist.
Surviving is one daughter Patricia "Patty" Brown of LaGrange, MO; six grandchildren including Hetti A. Brown-Lilley and her husband Terry of Wilmington, DE. Also surviving are several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Epker was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons Gary Lee Epker and Donald Leroy Epker, a grandson Dana Scott Epker and one brother Henry Evin Long.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Graymount Cemetery in Coatsburg, IL.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
