WILLIAM R. ANDERSON
William R. Anderson, 94, of Decatur, died at 4:15 p.m. on Monday (June 26, 2017) in the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy.
Born July 9, 1922 in Decatur, Illinois, William was the son of William H. and Hazel Snider Anderson.
Bill served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge for which he received the Purple Heart.
Upon his return from the war, Bill owned a furniture store. He later went on to own and operate Anderson Motors.
Bill married Mary Maxine Reich and was the father of five children, Lindsay Smith, Mary K. (Monte) Denson, Alice (Chuck) Tarvin, Bill (Jeanne) Anderson and Jamess Anderson. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill's true passion were his dogs, who went with him everywhere with him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lindsay; and his sister, Dorothy Jean.
Bill will be deeply missed by his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
