William W. Kaufman

   Mr. William W. "Bill" Kaufman, 81, of 1007 South 18th, Quincy, died at 12:55 a.m. Friday (February 1, 2013) in Good Samaritan Home.

   Born November 17, 1931 in Quincy, Bill was the son of William F. and Gertrude B. Ruhl Kaufman. He married Erma Caldwell on December 28, 1957 in Paris, Missouri. She survives.

   Bill was an avid fisherman, especially trout and fly fishing, and enjoyed tying and creating new flies. He was also proficient at computer graphics art, sharing many of his creations with his friends and family. Bill was devoted to his family and he loved traveling to visit his children in various parts of the country. He loved making people laugh.

   Mr. Kaufman served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed as a computer repairman for IBM for 33 years, retiring in 1987. Following his retirement, Bill and Erma moved to the Bennett Spring State Park area where they lived for 17 years, moving back to Quincy in 2003 to be closer to their grandchildren.

   Survivors include his wife, Erma; a daughter, Carol Pagliara of Quincy; four sons, Bill Kaufman of Ames, IA, Steve Kaufman (Karin) of Milwaukee, WI, Jim Kaufman of Denver, CO and Karl Kaufman of Schaumburg, IL; five grandchildren, David W. Kaufman and his fiance Megan of Austin, TX, Alyssa Kaufman and her fiance Miles of Denver, CO, Dominic Pagliara of Quincy, Nicholas Pagliara of Quincy and Louie Pagliara of Quincy.

   Mr. Kaufman was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Drage.

   Cremation rites have been accorded to Mr. Kaufman. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date.

   In honor of Bill, the family requests memorials be made to the Quincy Humane  Society or the Salvation Army in care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy, IL 62301.
